Corona Virus Disturbs The Hiring Process

Corona virus has not only infected the health of the world but also spread its tentacles over the stock market and other industries as well. Due to the rapid spread of this deadly virus many people have confined themselves to their homes and prefer to stay indoors. But, does that mean the working would stop? No, people have come up with the solutions in order to keep the system running.

Following the unforeseen disruption of the corona virus pandemic, companies are now resorting to intelligent automated systems that offer virtual screening environment and interviewing experience, instead of conducting in-person interviews.

As far as hiring is concern many business professionals have either stopped hiring or they are hiring only important people for their work. Now let’s mention about the process of hiring.

The tech industries switching to the video conferencing mode to hire prospective candidates even as they brace for a larger slowdown in various business segments.

Companies such as Cognizant, Wipro and NTT are using virtual meetings to interview and select candidates in an effort to carry out business as usual. However, onboarding of selected candidates is being postponed until April. Experts from staffing firms suggested that video-based recruitment will be the norm in the coming weeks.

The companies have stopped Face-to-face interactions for hiring a potential candidate to eliminate the spread of Corona Virus.

Staffing firms are also asking IT companies to build e-onboarding facilities given the uncertainty of when candidates can join companies.

Companies are looking after the travel history (official and personal) of the past three months, also their medical history is getting checked. However, if they have any illness, status of illness, track of residence locations, any address update that need to be done is also done.

Virtual Onboarding Process have helped the business professionals to keep the system running and also helped to carry out its functions smoothly.Critical business functions need not be brought to a standstill. Instead virtual onboarding and engagement can be initiated by leveraging digital solution suites like virtual hackathons, where team members could come together to discuss present and hypothetical business challenges.

On the other hand, with the corona virus pandemic threatening a sharp economic slowdown, experts are suggesting companies to adopt a humane approach in rationalising their expenses without going for across-the-board pay cuts or freezing of hikes to ensure a faster recovery from the slump. While contract employees in many sectors, especially those in the manufacturing space, are already losing their daily wages due to a lockdown of plants and various other commercial establishments, several companies are said to be planning pay cuts or at least freezing of hikes due from the next month.

Today, we all are somewhere affected due the deadly coronavirus- directly or indirectly. We all are in this together and we need to fight with it together. The measures advised by the health officials need to be followed and let’s fight and win together.
